Get inspired – YouTube for Business
It’s hard to believe that YouTube has been around since 2005. When I first wrote this article, I commented that it had only been around 2 years after the US Iraq War back in 2003. The infamous Keyboard Cat video first appeared on YouTube in 2007, and the rest is history!
Watching and sharing videos online is such a normal part of everyday life that it’s important not to forget what a great opportunity YouTube is for marketing. People spend a lot of time watching YouTube videos. Shorts may seem like the trend, but people are watching long videos and streaming them to their TVs at night. They are enjoying video podcasts.
Here were the YouTube stats that appeared in my original version of the article back in 2012. That’s before people thought we were going to call video blogs vlogs.
Here’s a little blast from the digital marketing past that appeared in the original version of this article.
YouTube stats from 2012
“It’s made me think it’s time I get brave enough for a regular video blog to add to my YouTube channel.
There are so many innovative ways to use video marketing, especially now that you can record a live video Google+ Hangout to your YouTube Channel.”
Google+ and Google Hangout might not have lasted, but YouTube is still going strong. If you know what will interest your “target market” or “ICP” Ideal Customer Profile, as marketers are fond of saying now, then creating video content is definitely worth your time. Don’t be fooled by the Mr. Beast type of hype that you need to try to get millions of views on your videos. Even if you only have a small number of sales leads in your pipeline, if you can get them to spend time watching your video content, it can be selling for you, with you only having to do the work once to record the video. Your video content is like having little sales clones working for you while you spend your time doing whatever you please.
Get your phone out and start recording. It might not be perfect at first, but just give it a try.
